This is largely short and sweet because I don't know if I'm gonna lose the computer again or something, PLUS I fully intend to phone-stalk you later, but...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY STACEY!

PROVING THAT RANDOM PEOPLE YOU MEET ON THE INTERNET MAY NOT BE SERIAL KILLERS. 8D I hope you've had a fantastic day with lots of puppy cuddles and maybe playing some God of War (oh Kratos <3). OR BETTER YET, treat yourself to Movie World again for me. (Ride Superman again until you have marks the next day. You know what I mean~). You shall have a present when you tell me what on Earth you want. :|

[Because of THIS. IT WAS LIKE PULLING TEETH I SWEAR DX]

Artemis Fowl II

It's come to my attention that I've made what seems to be a significant error on my part. Despite all my inventions, my achievements, and my extensive discoveries, I managed to make the most common mistake by failing to see what was in front of my eyes all along.

I couldn't see - no, I refused to see - what was in front of me because I could not accept that it might be true.

But despite everything particularly how the institute makes it nearly impossible to actually prove anything in this line of thought, I realise it now.

You are... smarter than me.

I may have invented a time machine, flight rings, cloaking belts, and any number of other advances in other areas over the years, but they cannot compare to [SELF NOTE: Insert details of inventions created by Artemis here, pending research.].

So I... humbly... request for you to accept this... apology.

Trick or Treat?

  • Nov. 1st, 2009 at 10:45 AM

Because Halloween isn't really celebrated here (and is technically over anyway but shh), but I wanna join in. T___T

1) Create a graphic (200 x 200 max size) to represent your personal "candy". It should have your username on it, but otherwise can feature whatever you want. Make it something special since it's self-representative.

2) Make a post with the subject "trick or treat?". Put your "candy" somewhere in it, and be sure to repost these instructions.

3) Then, go around other people's LJs and reply to them with either "trick" or "treat". If you reply with "trick", they will give you an LJ dare that you have to perform before taking their candy. If you're too wimpy for that, simply say "treat" and take their candy.

4) List all your collected candies in your original "trick or treat?" post to show off your collection!

Ngggghn I have to catch up on mod stuff like whoa gawd Kes why do you fail so hard idek Dx.

BUT I HAVE A QUICK QUESTION FOR EVERYONE WHO HAS, LIKE, A FEW SECONDS? (Mostly Damned related, though others are welcome to answer if they like.)

If you had a post with a buttload of images (like, 20-25?), what kind of size limitations would work for you? Clearly I don't want to cause browser death or anything, but I wanna keep details visable as well... Dx

The problem with LJ: we all think we are so close, but really, we know nothing about each other. So I want you to ask me something you think you should know about me. Something that should be obvious, but you have no idea about. Ask away.

Then post this in your LJ and find out what people don't know about you.

....it occurs to me that I barely ever talk about myself here beyond vague stuff on classes, rp, and writing. :/

Dear self.

I get it. You're practically high off the rush of new plot ideas, coming up with reasons for things to happen and bits of scenes that'll be awesome and badass. It's what you love about this and it's what keeps you going when you have to slog through scenes that just. Won't. Move.

And it's even more powerful because you've got two huge ideas spinning around and around in your head, not to mention small drabbles you're (still) working on, and there's nothing nicer then sitting down in your favourite place and just hashing out plots for an hour or more. (It's in a coffee shop too, ironically).

BUT

...you have a 1500 word assessment due next week. It's worth 35%. FINISH IT. Come down off your high for a bit and just try to focus long enough to get it done? We so cannot afford to fail this. The ideas will still be there later, and no one will mind if you don't get them done OMG NOW.

THIS IS LATE BUT

Dear Self

3,150-ish words pre-editing. For part one.

That's not an Oktoberfest fic, that's the beginning of a NaNoWriMo entry.

WHAT. THE. FUCK.

Stop it.

JEDI FETUS

  • Oct. 7th, 2009 at 9:09 PM

NO REALLY.

NOT A PREGNANT JEDI, BUT LUKE SKYWALKER TEACHING LOIS LANE'S UNBORN FETUS HOW TO BE A JEDI.

I can't tell if this is unbelievably awesome, or so cracktastic it killed all my higher functions.

EXTRACT:

"It's a girl", Luke said, using the Force to see inside the womb. "Luke, would you be able to telepathically teach our daughter the ways of the Force and of the Jedi?" Clark asked, curious. "yes, but I must warn you, you may have difficulties raising her with these gifts that I will bestow her."...

..."Now, Kon, Linda, time to begin your training as Jedi Knights, you too, little one", Luke told the unborn child in Lois' womb telepathically. "The first lessons a Jedi cadet learns are: Jedi use the Force for good, and not the dark side of the Force. There is no try, only do, believe in yourself and in the Force and you will succeed, and lastly, a Jedi uses the Force to defend, not to attack or oppress. The first exercise is for you to do your best and lift things with your mind, and concentrate on keeping the object in the air. Linda, you go first."

Unfortunately we don't get Lois' fetus lifting things with her mind. WOE.

Rest of it is here, but beware the wall o' text.

I should probably stop playing the 'see what's the worst thing you can find in the pit' game...

EDIT: The other best part? 'Luke's' idea of Jedi apparently = telekinetics with lightsabres. So he's teaching Kon-El (Superboy) and Linda Danvers (one of the Supergirls) how to do something that's already part of their powers. WIN.

asdflkjf story ideas are eating my head. I have to get out of the house for a bit, since that usually helps.

Also a meme!

Give me a fandom, and I'll tell you...

1. The first character I fell in love with:
2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now:
3. The character everyone else loves that I don’t:
4. The character I love that everyone else hates:
5. The character I would shag anytime:
6. The character I'd want to be like:
7. The character I'd slap:
8. A pairing that I love:
9. A pairing that I despise:
10. Favorite character:
11. What are my five favorite things about the fandom.
12. What are my five least favorite things about the fandom.
13. Who are my five favorite characters.
14. Who are my five least favorite characters.
15. What are my five favorite pairings.
16. What are my five least favorite pairings.
17. Which character you are most like.
18. What is my deep, dark fandom secret.

Okay, so I'm thinking my Oktoberfest entry will in fact be the beginning of a long story told in episodic format. Why? Because I have well over 2000 words handwritten so far of my first draft, yet I'm still nowhere near the midpoint of the story. I'm more like juuuust past the beginning. And much of those notes have comments all over them noting that I have to add detail X so that point Y doesn't come out of nowhere or expand on a scene or check my character voice. So doing it episodically might help give me a bit of breathing room to pit as much effort as I want to into it. Not to mention seeing how many people are interested beyond me and Kabby or whoever else I can guilt on my flist. XD

Plus the different style might be interesting to play around with as well, which is always a bonus.

Of course, the whole thing is starting to scare me a tiny bit as well, since it started off as a 'a fic about this might be cool and hey! Oktoberfest idea!' and then it just kind of. EXPLODED. It roped in more characters. Created new plot ideas. Spawned a bastard child of a sequel, some nice imagery, and, somehow, a soundtrack of sorts. I'm not sure what's happened, but it's eating my head.

More than Sev does already anyway. ♥

I'm a little worried that I won't manage to make it as good as I want, like it is in my head. That I won't do the characters justice, or the plot will be predictable and obvious, unravelled after the first section. Or that it'll look like I only pick the popular characters. But I think I'll try anyway, since I'm not likely to get another idea like this or a chance to try. And a project like this might be fun, if difficult.

Hopefully it'll turn out okay in the end.

Help, I think I need an intervention. I've been reading Legion comics all day. When I should be app writing or catching up on tags. Dx

And I know I shouldn't read them especially before tagging my Brainy since reboot!Brainy is completely different from animated!Brainy and I'll end up screwing up my character but. SO GOOD WHY.

Maybe it's that I love comics I can gently make fun of. Like, the whole reason the Legion got started was because some rich, powerful guy got rescued by a group of teenagers and decided that a teenage death squad group of heroes would be AWESOME. And so the government started drafting other teens into the group. BECAUSE CLEARLY NOTHING CAN GO WRONG WITH THIS PLAN, GOD NO. (Admittedly they do get rid of the draft much, much later, but most of the core members? Only there because they were made to be.) But they still manage to kick ass and be awesome and have those little stories I adore which just show heroes being normal (and are therefore so very rare in comics DX). Not to mention Brainy's a huge ass 95% of the time. And he and Lyle are sort of adorable.

....I do wish I could get my Brainy a pet monkey though. T______T

Argh. I overslept and missed my class.

Well, I was going to skip out on it anyway to do some work on my assignments and stuff and because my learned response to 'we're going to have an in-class debate on this topic just for fun! \o/' is to go 'this is not assessable, I have other things due that need more time, I can afford to skip your 'just for fun' debate. PLUS I HATE TALKING IN FRONT OF PEOPLE. Dx'. But oversleeping was not part of the plan. T___T Presumably this is what I get for staying up late tagging and stuff.

I should still be able to get most of the stuff done I wanted to, but I also wanted to allow for doing some other writing as well. Plus also catching up on tags. Have to get Wally to the hallway and drop Brainy into the Sun Room proper and get other Brainy talking to people so when I kill the little guy it won't get a reaction of 'who?' XD; (The practice run I did in aim is making me want to do it NOW though. Dx Why is killing characters so damn fun? Ironically it's also picked up my interest in the game, which was why I'd decided to drop. /FACEPALMS. GG, Kes. Still, we're leaving things open enough that bringing him back is an option too. I'll just have to make sure that I can actually keep him going first.)

....and that was a long aside.

WELL. MORAL OF THE STORY: I will remember to set the loud alarm if I need it due to staying up too late. And now I have to go watch Sweeney Todd for my assignment. XD

... Apparently the world is conspiring against me having my happy fun times tonight. Or just telling me to gtfo the net and work on other things. First the connection goes, then when I finally get it working the computer shuts itself off.

Oh well, I guess I'll work on other stuff for a bit--

[Kylie notes the new developments in the intercom]

Oh, well played, computer, well played. But if you thought this would save him, then you have made a tragic error. He's mine now, and all you've done has been to delay the inevidable. For both of them. Mwahahahaha.

Note to self:
1) See if Kabby wants to have some real fun
2) Thank Fam for all the fun material
3) Practice evil laugh
